Cleft palate/ velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD) speech is complex, encompassing a myriad of speech features based on a wide and heterogeneous range of aetiologies. Globally, differing terminology and speech profiling systems continue to be used and current classification systems in the Speech Sound Disorder field do not sufficiently capture the complexity and full essence of complexities of cleft palate/VPD speech.
